Warm and humid today, rain and gusty winds arriving tonight
A cloudy, murky start for many, with patchy drizzle mainly over the hills of Cumbria and the Pennines. The cloud will slowly lift and break through the afternoon, bringing some bright or sunny spells, best across southern parts of the region. Feeling warm and humid, with highs of 20C to 23C, warmest across Cheshire and Greater Manchester.
This evening stays largely dry, but a band of rain will sweep south across the region overnight, with some heavier bursts and gusty south-westerly winds for a time. Gusts could reach 35 to 43 mph on exposed coasts and hills, closer to 15 to 25 mph inland. The rain clears southwards towards dawn.
Temperatures fall to around 9C to 12C by morning, and Tuesday will feel noticeably fresher with sunshine and scattered showers.
