Dry with sunny spells for a fine end to the weekend
A lovely September Sunday across the North West, staying dry with plenty of sunny spells and lighter winds than recent days. Thin high cloud may turn the sunshine hazy at times, especially over Cumbria, but it will feel pleasant in the sunshine with highs of 16C to 18C, warmest inland across Cheshire and Greater Manchester.
Winds are a moderate westerly, gusting 25 to 33 mph around exposed coasts and hills around midday, but easing noticeably through the evening.
Tonight starts dry with clear skies, turning chilly with lows of 6C to 9C, coldest in rural spots. Cloud thickens from the west in the early hours, perhaps bringing a little light rain or drizzle to the Cumbrian fells and Pennines by dawn, though most places stay dry.
