Warm but cloudy today, wet and windy weather arriving overnight
After a bright start in the north, cloud spreads in from the south this morning, bringing the odd spot of rain or drizzle and murky conditions over the hills. It stays largely dry but rather grey for most through the afternoon, and it will feel warm for late September, with highs of 20C to 22C.
This evening is mostly dry with some clear spells, but the winds freshen and heavy rain sweeps in from the west overnight, crossing the whole region before dawn. It stays mild, with lows of around 10C to 13C.
Winds are southerly to south-easterly, turning south-westerly later, with gusts of 25 to 35 mph inland and 40 to 47 mph on exposed coasts and hills, strongest overnight as the rain arrives.
