WEATHER WATCH ISSUED: SNOW
Region: North West England
Valid from: 05:00 (Friday 29/12/17)
Valid to: 14:00 (Friday 29/12/17)
A yellow weather watch has been issued for SNOW.
A frontal system will edge into the region during the early morning hours and through tomorrow morning and as it does so, snowfall is likely with cold air already in place across the region. Snow could well fall to lower levels for a time (leading edge) with 1-3 cm possible but the chief risk will come above 150m with anything from 5cm to 15cm+ possible. The situation does remain complex however with milder air also trying to mix in with this wintry precipitation. I’ve no doubt I will have to update further later today but for now expect travel disruption through tomorrow morning across all networks.
Below are two high resolution models both suggesting a spell of snow (red colours) across the region so confidence is rather high in this set up.
As ever I’ll monitor the situation closely and update further when necessary so please keep posted across all our social media outlets.
